Paint colour for condo
when you decide to paint your condo, you start to ask what is the best color for your condo?
With our years painting experience, we have found this is the hardest questions for lots of people during the estimate.
It is because they are overwhelmed by the color chips.
This is why we are here to help you.
Actually, choosing a color is not difficult if you know why you are painting the condo.
Typically, there are three scenarios and let’s start with the easy one first.
1. you are selling or renting the condo
In this case, the best color for condo is neutral because you never know the gender and age of the buyer. So, you never know their color preference.
You can go with white, beige or grey. you can read which color sells condo fast here
Now, let’s talk about the second and third scenario altogether
2. the current color is outdated or you want to give the condo you purchased a new look
In this case, the color selection gets really tricky.
It is because every person has their own preference. so, there is no rules to follow.
But we do suggest the following before you start and you need to have them in mind
1. do you have lot of natural sun light?
2. what is the color of your flooring? dark brown, light brown or black?
3. what is the color of your furniture? dark brown, black or white?
You need find the color that works well with current color you have.
If you are facing south or west, most likely lots of sun light comes into your condo. Dont be afraid to go with deep and bold colours. It will not make your room darker and smaller.
With answers above, you can go to any paint stores and ask the sales for suggestions because they know the popular colors and they sell them a lot.
You can also buy paint colour samples from them. It only costs $7-$10 depending on the brand. You can put it on the small rollers. Do not test the sample with paint brush. It tends to leave brush marks if you put it on thick. It also requires lots of sanding to have smooth finish on walls.
If you want to ask us, with our experience, we see beige is replaced by grey because it is neutral and it gives a modern look as well .
However, there is two different types of grey, warm grey and cool grey.
Warm grey is more classic look. Cool grey is more modern look.
We also find cool grey works well with light yellow flooring and warm gray works well with dark flooring.
Also, the painting industry starts to work closely with fashion industry, more and more popular color from fashion design starts to show in the interior design. such as the dirty pink and dark blue. they go very well with grey as accent color.
If you decide to go with gray paint color, we have a collection of 24 popular Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams Grays. All photos of Grays are from our interior painting project.
